David Garrard is a solid 30-year old quarterback who had decent stats during the 2007 regular season.
He can carry the football when he is under too much pressure and earn short yardage with his legs, he scored 3 rushing touchdowns.
His stats for the 2007 season, 18 touchdowns, 3 interceptions. His average per completion: 7.7 yards, he completed 64% of his passes for 2509 yards and a good rating which is above 100, 102.2 and he was sacked 21 times.
But Garrard, even though he doesn't commit stupid turnovers by getting picked off due to bad choices on his throws, has to reach the next level.
My point is being intercepted just 3 times in the entire season doesn't mean you're a great quarterback, it just means you don't throw in risky situations and this is it, for the moment David Garrard is a good passer and just a good passer but not a great quarterback like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
Great quarterbacks are intercepted but just because they try new things, throwing where their receivers are covered by two players, for example.
He has to elevate his game level to the one he played at during the last AFC Divisional game when he faced the Patriots and had a tremendous first half, playing at Brady's level.
He was even above Brady's level. The problem is Brady plays this way every game so...
Is Garrard able to reach this level of skills more than just a half?
He replaced with success Byron Leftwich in 2006, he brought physical abilities that Leftwich doesn't have. He can throw the ball outside the pocket.
Now Jaguars' fans expect more, they want their quarterback to be a real leader.
He doesn't play with enough intensity or passion.
Reaching the playoffs is done, it remains reaching the Super Bowl...
