Santonio Holmes

The MVP of Super Bowl XLIII is a 24-year old wide receiver, ex-Ohio State's Buckeye. He's in his third season so he is from the 2006 NFL Draft which has seen the emerging of many players, the most known names are Reggie Bush or Vince Young. Even if he's not tall enough (5-11 about 1m84) to be the prototype of a primary wide receiver in the NFL, Holmes' got reliable hands, very good speed, he's the punt returner for Pittsburgh very often.
He showed he could be a good offensive option after both Antwaan Randel El and Plaxico Buress' leaving the Steelers.
He's got some decent stats during the regular season, not very impressive, just solid.
55 receptions for a total gain of 821 yards. He's not very far from a 1000-yard season which is the reference in today's football.
His average per catch is very good and even huge with 14.9 yards. He didn't score a lot of touchdowns, just 5.
What's asked to a good player is to be there when it really counts, during Super Bowl XLIII, he proved his team he was there despite Hines Ward was not at 100% phisically. He stayed focused to perform probably the most important catch of his young career, I mean the one that made Pittsburgh win the game with .35 to go in regulation!
For those who don't know very well football, you have to know that a player has to have both feet in the endzone with the control of the ball to score a touchdown.
That's why this picture is awesome to me, look at his feet! (photo left).
With this catch, he made the Steelers enter the NFL history as the only team that won 6 times the Super Bowl.
Obviously it's totally logical he was named MVP with 9 catches, 131 yards and also 1 touchdown.
When you think Hines Ward had only 2 catches due to his physical problems. The following player, tight-end Heath Miller, has just 5 receptions for 47 yards.
Holmes is gonna be a great reciever...
