This first Monday Night Football of the season has seen an AFC North matchup between the Baltimore Ravens that hosted the Cincinnati Bengals of, both sophomores quarterback Andy Dalton and wideout A.J Green, at M&T Bank Stadium.
Ex-Texans' Brandon Tate joined Cincinnati's roster and ex-Patriot Benjarvus Green-Ellis is now the primary halfback of the Bengals.
Billy Cundiff is no longer a Raven after his miss to tie the game up in the last AFC championship game, he's replaced by rookie kicker Justin Tucker.
Among Baltimore's defense, linebacker Terrell Suggs is out for injury. We'll check out wheter or not this Ravens' defense can handle this major lack.
Inside the offense, please note the addition of ex-Texan Jacoby Jones.
Let's see what it happened between these two division rivals of the AFC North...
After a 71-yard kick by Mike Nugent returned by Deonte Thompson, Baltimore starts its first offensive drive from its own 21.
On his first throw quarterback Joe Flacco surprises Bengals' defense with a 52-yard bullet to his deep threat Torrey Smith (photo right #82) in the middle to CIN 27. In one play Baltimore is already short of the Bengals' red zone.
In order to stay on a rythm that annoy opponent's defense, Flacco plays with no huddle to limit Bengals' defense adjustments but the Ravens won't go any further as, after a sack on Flacco, Baltimore loses 7 yards and is obliged to kick a 46-yard field goal by Justin Tucker to put the first points on the scoreboard after 5 plays and just 2.07 elapsed on the clock.
On the following possession, it's a 3 & out series for Cincinnati. A 39-yard punt by Kevin huber places the Ravens at their 37.
On this drive Joe Flacco will fumble the football but, lucky for the birds, recovered by wideout Anquan Boldin at midfield.
Then Flacco (photo left #5) hits two times in a row for 5 and 16 yards his new target Jacoby Jones.
Baltimore takes its first timeout at 7.22 before a 1-yard 4th down that would allow the birds to enter Cincinnati's red zone. Halfback Ray Rice will catch a short right pass to convert this 4th down.
Next, after an incomplete pass, Ravens' thrower hits his tight end Dennis Pitta for a 12-yard gain.
7 yards before the endzone, tailback Ray Rice (photo right #27) will run on his right to score his first touchdown of the regular season.
10 to nothing is the score after 9 minutes elapsed in the opening quarter.
Ex-Texan Brandon Tate will not allow his team to start their following offensive drive with a good field position as Tate returns the kickoff to his own 8.
Deep in their territory the cats run the football by Benjarvus Green-Ellis, few plays later sophomore wideout A.J Green catches a 19-yard pass in the middle.
Unfortunately Bengals' offensive drive will not allow them to tie the game up. Cincinnati has to settle for 3 points as they can score nothing but a 34-yard field goal by Mike Nugent to begin the second quarter.
The Ravens need just 2.07 minutes to increase their lead, after hitting Jacoby Jones with a 25-yard throw that places Baltimore at CIN 40, Ray Rice runs on his right for 6 yards to open spaces for the passing game as Baltimore's quarterback throws a 34-yard bullet to Anquan Boldin in the middle to score six more points. Boldin (photo right #81) will finish this ball game with 4 receptions for 63 yards and 1 touchdown.
The following drive for the Bengals will be stopped just before midfield, on a 3rd & 2 at CIN 49 Haloti Ngata sacks quarterback Andy Dalton for a loss of 3 yards (photo left #92).
4 th & 5, Bengals' punter kicks the ball to send the Ravens at BAL 15 returned to BAL 24 for a total gain of 9 yards by corneback Lardarius Webb.
On this offensive drive, Baltimore thrower will be sacked on a 3rd & 10 just after reaching Bengals' territory, Baltimore loses 7 yards on this play, a 37-yard punt will follow returned by Brandon Tate to CIN 19 for 5 yards.
5.52 remaining in regulation when the Bengals are back on offense. Quarterback Andy Dalton will build a pretty solid drive, with 0.35 to go both teams take a timeout because it's 3 & 1 at BAL 6.
The defense will stop the run and the birds take another timeout to stop the clock because it's 4th & 1.
Cincinnati will go for the remaining yard, they even do better as they score a 6-yard touchdown, Benjarvus Green-Ellis runs on his left to cross the goal line (photo right).
The score is, at this point, 17-10 Ravens, but, with 0.18 to go in 1st half, no more points will be added
At halftime the score is 17-10 Ravens
Cincinnati starts on offense to begin the second half, they will try to stay on the same dynamic.
The Bengals build another solid drive from their own 20 but, as the previous one, they're stopped at BAL 1.
They will not try to gain this yard, they settle for another field goal reducing their deficit as the score is now 17-13 Ravens
On the following drive, Baltimore starts from its own 11 as the kick returner was unable to go further.
Everything goes faster in this third quarter, no huddle offense and shotgun formation for Flacco who disturbs Cincinnati's defense with Ray Rice running to open spaces for the passing game.
After an incomplete pass to tailback Ray Rice, it's 3 & 8 at CIN 10, quarterback Joe Flacco hits his tight end Dennis Pitta in the middle for a 10-yard touchdown (photo right #88).
24-13 Baltimore is the score at this point of the game.
The Bengals won't be capable of doing anything except kicking a 57-yard punt to place Baltimore's offense at BAL 26 to start another drive. Joe Flacco, who completes 21/29 for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns, won't be able to enter Bengals' red zone as the birds are stopped at CIN 21 and obliged to kick a 40-yard field goal by rookie kicker Justin Tucker. The Ravens increase their lead to 14 points as the score is 27-13
The Bengals are back on offense with 1.13 to go in the 3rd, Cincinnati has to wake up quickly, it's still a two-possession game and nothing's is done yet.
After an incomplete pass intended for A.J Green, deep left, it's 3rd & 9 at CIN 21, shotgun formation, on a short left pass intended for Brandon Tate Ravens' safety Ed Reed picks off the ball and returned it along the sideline to score a 34-yard touchdown to make it 34-13.
Ed Reed (photos below) is now NFL's all-time leader with 1,497 interception return yards.

No more points will be scored in the 3rd
The final period starts with the Bengals continuing on offense.
The nightmare keeps going for Cincinnati, Andy Dalton is sacked once again by linebacker Ray Lewis who forces a fumble (photo right #52) and Lardarius Weeb recovers it at CIN 28.
With about 9 minutes to go in regulation, coach Harbaugh decides to allow his starters some rest by replacing them by backup players, very happy to play.
Only a 39-yard field goal will be scored by Ravens' rookie kicker Justin Tucker, who ends up his first game with a perfect 3 field goals made on 3 attempts, to put the score to 44-13. This will be the final score.
