When Michael Vick, and the birds, took the lead on a 2-yard touchdown pass to Brent Celek, with 6.33 to go in regulation, Ben Roethlisberger drove for the victory, well helped by tailback Rashard Mendenhall who runs the ball 14 times for 81 yards and the only touchdown for Pittsbutgh. Steelers' passer places Shaun Suisham in good position to kick a 34-yard field goal for the win.
Steelers' quarterback had pretty decent numbers even though he did not throw any touchdown, he completes 21 of 37 pass attempts for a total gain of 207 yards. He made smart choices, most of all in first half, allowing his team to gain ground.
Inside the Eagles, quarterback Micheal Vick fumbles the twice, including once in opponent's end zone. Lucky for Philly halfback LeSean McCoy had a solid game, he runs for 53 yards in 13 carries, he also caught 4 passes for 27 yards and one of these was for a touchdown.
Dick LeBeau's game plan worked very well, it contained both LeSean McCoy and deep throws to DeSean Jackson or Jeremy Maclin and forced Vick to make the difference with his throws, not his athleticism.
The best proof, Philly's quarterback had only 18 yards in 5 carries.
A solid win for Pittsburgh that shows up Steelers' defense is one of the most effective in the National Football League.
