For the rematch of the last NFC championship game, the San Francisco 49ers hosted the defending champs New York Giants.
Frankly, there was no opposition, the G men rout the niners on a 26-3 score.
Even with their new acquisitions, both Randy Moss and ex-Giant Mario Manningham, the 49ers were unable to do anything except a 42-yard field goal, in the opening period, by David Akers who had a tough day as he made just 1 of his 3 field goal attempts.
San Francisco struggled on both sides of the ball, on offense, quarterback Alex Smith threw three picks (2 by Antrel Rolle, 1 Prince Amukamara) and was sacked six times by Giants' defense!

San Francisco's running game was muzzled as primary halfback Franck Gore carries the ball only 8 times for a gain of 36 yards,no score.
His backup Kendall Hunter gains 26 yards in 4 carries.
The receiving corp wasn't very inspired either, Randy Moss caught 2 passes for a gain of 75 yards, well helped by a 55-yard reception, and Mario Manningham caught 5 passes for 72 yards. Michael Crabtree and tight end Vernon Davis had 3 receptions each for 26 and 37 yards.
On defense, that's not really better as the niners were unable to force any turnover.

Quarterback Eli Manning did not need to force his talent, he completes 15/28 for 193 yards and 1 touchdown.
With this victory the G men are with a 4-2 record, on top of the NFC East.
