The Philadelphia Eagles lost, again, on Monday Night Football against Drew Brees and the Saints, on a 28-13 score.
Why are the Eagles so far of everybody's expectations?
Let's try to find out the reasons why…
Let's begin with the centerpiece of this team, the quarterback position. Michael Vick, who did an amazing comeback with the Eagles, improved his throw, his mechanics.
He's now more a quarterback than a halfback, but it could be problematic as Vick's got maybe too confidence in his arm. He threw 10 touchdowns for 9 interceptions with a rating of 77.7, he completes only 58.3% of his pass attempts and also lost 5 fumbles.
However philly's got good offensive statistics, so why are the Eagles unable to win more games?
The defense is guilty too. It's even the main problem, unable to force turnovers. Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha who was expected as one of the best backs in the league got simply one interception so far, through 8 games!
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie who was supposed to be less productive than Asomugha got 3 picks.
The whole team's got only 7 interceptions while their opponents have 9 and scored 2 defensive touchdowns.
Lucky for the birds, linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who joined the team this offseason, is maybe the only satisfaction among this defense as he's the best tackler of the team, he also got 1 pick and 1 sack.
Philly must limit its turnovers first. Fixing the turnover issues is the first step.
The eagles are currently 13th in the NFC and, with a not-so easy schedule, it will be very hard to accede the playoffs…
